Benefits may include:
Having therapy from the comfort of your own home, if you have enough privacy.
Saving time and costs from driving to-and from a physical office.
Not having to wait in the lobby where you could encounter / run into others that you may know.
Being able to see a therapist that is located in another city.
Having access to therapy services when you don't have the service available in your own community.
Disadvantages may include:
Not everyone is a good candidate for tele-therapy; this is based on severity of symptoms and what is going for the person.
Sometimes there may be connection and internet difficulties.
The therapist may not be able to fully read body language communication.
Some people like to meet with their therapist in person.
The therapist may not be as knowledgable about resources in your own community.

Seeking out help and reaching out for support is the first step to working with a therapist.
